We have a great little children's museum near us, that Genevieve had wanted to visit for some time. So as soon as school was out for the year and our days became more open, we headed up for the day and had a blast.
Genevieve learned about making bubbles and tried her hand at creating a giant bubble to completely encompass us. She was able to play scientist with some high tech bubble making equipment and make a fun slimy mess. Of course, popping the bubbles is always fun, too!
We explored nature, as the kids climbed in and out of burrows, giant birds nests, gathered insects and food for the winter, and dressed up in animal costume. Brooks was fascinated by all of the things to climb, touch, and explore. I LOVED watching Genevieve with the make believe that she immediately engaged in and attempted to invite all other kids, (even years older than her), to participate. Role playing is an everyday activity and adventure for her. Her creative imagination, and the seriousness she takes with it, make me smile!
The kids' grocery store and restaurant kitchen part of the museum are always a favorite part for us. What child can resist the opportunity to push a mini shopping cart and fill it with anything he or she wants, check out on his own, and then work the back kitchen. Genevieve was busy cooking, and Brooks was busy eating. They had a good time!
Genevieve enjoyed the build-it section of the museum for the first time. She carefully considered the options of things she could build with the material and, then, created her own train engine. I helped her with a few of the tools while trying to keep Brooks from grabbing the saws and swallowing the nails. There is no doubt that he is a fan of tools, too!
I am fascinated by children's creativity, wonder, and enthusiasm to learn. We had a wonderful day!
