Learning to Eat

Trying something new isn't always easy. We attempted our first solid food feeding with Brooks on December 26, as he was almost 6 months old. Having always been rather opinionated about his source of nourishment, Becca was ready for some freedom. As you can see from the expression on his face, he didn't take to it very well. Poor guy!

However by the end of January, we finally began to have some luck with him swallowing the food. I think this is a photo of the first time he actually ate some cereal. I am not sure if it was simply enough attempts or the excitement of his sister feeding him. It was worth a celebration, though, and cute to watch Genevieve anxious to help him.

Some feeding days are still better than others, but the reaction has definitely changed! Here is our happy boy in his high chair. Looking at his size, you would think he's been swallowing baby food for a long time; not so. We have successfully found that he likes green beans and sweet potatoes. How much he eats is still questionable, but he has fun spitting it out!
